I am a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with over twenty years working in the NHS working with children and their parents on a diverse range of speech, language and communication needs. My clinical focus includes working with individuals of all ages who stammer, from pre-school to adult.
Additionally, I have extensive experience of working with children to develop other areas of communication including those with language delay, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), people with Autism or speech sound difficulties.
At the heart of every session is a commitment to support the individual to reach their potential for joyful communication. I work closely with the child or adult and their families to provide a personalised plan to support them based on need, interests, and the most up-to-date evidence.
I offer face to face sessions for children and adults in the Brighton and Hove area and online sessions for those further afield. Training sessions are also available.
Please contact me to arrange a free telephone consultation to discuss your requirements.
“We are so grateful to Ruth for her expertise and advice and the way it was always delivered with kindness and support, understanding the struggles of daily life and helping us to integrate ideas in a way that worked for us and our son”.

“We just wanted to email and acknowledge the amazing support Ruth has given us in helping our son to overcome his stammer. We began seeing Ruth about a year ago and he was really struggling in the classroom to speak, children were talking over him and he was losing confidence rapidly as he simply couldn’t get his words out. We worked with Ruth who gave us some great strategies to build our son’s confidence and make him feel secure and more able to talk with us openly about how he was feeling.”

“And thanks again for today – it was such a useful conversation. You are brilliant at what you do – so much wisdom and insight delivered in a gentle and compassionate way. If only all parents could have this kind of support!”
